Curriculum Learning Journeys & Key Skills

At Egremont our vision is 'Pride, perseverence and progress.'

Our Mission Statement is 'Fostering an environment where all can flourish and achieve.'

Our Core Values are:

  • Working as a team
  • Taking responsibility
  • Finding creative solutions
  • Caring for and respecting all

Our school curriculum reflects the needs of our children, providing a range of culturally diverse experiences to reflect society. We challenge all learners to become independent and achieve academically as well as promoting the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of the children to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. The children are taught to understand their own community as part of a national and global society. We equip children with the skills and knowledge which will develop them as independent life-long learners.

The National Curriculum forms the basis for Curriculum planning throughout the school; KS1 and KS2 are taught a range of subjects as listed below:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science

  • Art and Design
  • History
  • Geography
  • Music
  • PE
  • Computing
  • Design and Technology
  • Foreign Languages (KS2)
  • PSHE
  • SMSC
  • RE

Staff plan and teach these subjects using a topic approach or as a stand alone subject.  It all depends on the topic being taught.

In each of the topics Key Skills are identified within the subject areas and are monitored throughout the academic year to ensure all Key Skills are taught.
