Design Technology is a valued part of the curriculum at Egremont Primary School. Our DT curriculum aims to provide children with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to a rapidly changing technological world.
Skills are developed using materials, tools and machines in designing and making artefacts and food products with an emphasis on healthy living. Food Technology provides opportunities to learn about diet, nutrition, food safety and hygiene, food preparation and cooking as well as where food comes from. These skills are interchangeable and linked to other subjects including Art, Language, Math, Science and Computing.
We follow the National Curriculum for this foundation subject and it it taught throughout the school from F1 to Year 6. We use the 4 step process of 'Investigate, Design, Create and Evaluate'.
