Pupil Premium

Evidence shows that disadvantaged pupils generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential. The Pupil Premium grant is designed to allow schools to support disadvantaged pupils so that they can achieve and realise their potential.

Schools get pupil premium funding based on the number of pupils they have in January each year from the following groups:

Free School Meals

Schools get £1,345 (an increase from £1,320 per pupil prior to April 2020) for every primary age pupil who claims free school meals, or who has claimed free school meals in the last 6 years.

Looked-after and previously looked-after children

Schools get £2,345 (previously, £2300) for every pupil who has left local authority care through adoption, a special guardianship order or child arrangements order.

Local authorities get the same amount for each child they are looking after; they must work with the school to decide how the money is used to support the child’s Personal Education Plan.

All schools are required to publish their Pupil Premium Strategy - this is a document to show how we are spending the Pupil Premium grant, the impact we intend it to have and a review of how effective our spend has been. You can find our strategy document by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. If you have any questions about this or would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you feel that your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, we can check this for you using an online tool that we have access to. You simply need to provide your Full Name, Date of Birth and National Insurance Number. You can contact Mrs Bresnen or Mrs Lamont (our pastoral team) on 0151 638 5406, you can email lianebresnen@egremont.wirral.sch.uk or jacquilamont@egremont.wirral.sch.uk or you can call in to meet with the staff in person. We will be happy to help you and offer any assistance that we can.
