Swimming Competency
Our children access school swimming sessions at Guinea Gap Swimming Baths. For most of our children, school swimming sessions provide their first opportunity for a swimming session.
The National Curriculum sets out that children should be able to:
- Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m
- Use a range of strokes effectively - for example, breast stroke, backstroke and front crawl
- Perform self-rescue in different water situations
For the academic year 2021-2022, 51% of our children met the swimming competency requirements.
